Rusty Elvidge

Spear’s Review

Rusty Elvidge is a leading figure in private banking, having been at Credit Suisse’s London UHNW private banking arm since it was formed in 2010, and spending 15 years on its investment banking side as co-head of global foreign exchange.

In 2022, he joined UBS in the Global Family and Institutional Wealth team in London; here he helps family offices to manage generational wealth, navigate changing investment landscapes and preserve their family legacy for future generations.

Elvidge’s largely Europe-based clients are usually entrepreneurs with wealth in excess of $1 billion. ‘They are very interesting people,’ he tells Spear’s. ‘For someone to have been that successful, they need to have taken a lot of risk. They’re very different from old money – most of them are happy with risk.’

Adviser Profile

Rusty Elvidge is a Managing Director and Client Advisor in the Global Family and Institutional Wealth (GFIW) team at UBS in London. GFIW is the firm’s divisional client service offering, which leverages the capabilities of both UBS Global Wealth Management and UBS Investment Bank to address the execution, investment, risk management, financing and banking needs of family offices and their corporate entities as well as entrepreneurs. In his role, Rusty focuses on advising entrepreneurs across Europe with wealth in excess of $1 billion.

Rusty’s 40-year career in the financial services industry started in 1985 as a Financial Markets Trader at Cargill, before he joined Salomon Brothers in 1990 as a Vice President in Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income Sales. He joined Credit Suisse in 1995 as Co-Head of Global Foreign Exchange before moving to focus on wealth management in the firm’s Private Banking team in 2010. Throughout his career, Rusty has worked in the US, Japan, Switzerland and the UK, advising some of the world’s most successful, ultra-high-net-worth entrepreneurs.

Outside of work, Rusty’s interests include art and design, and he has been a Trustee of the Victoria & Albert (V&A) museum in London since 2022.
